We love LA

We just returned home from our vacation to LA! Jason was in a friend's wedding, so we decided to make a trip out of it, complete with a visit to Disneyland for the kids! Disney has this GREAT program this year, called Give a Day, Get a Day. Jason and I volunteered our time (only 4 hours folks!) at an "approved" volunteer site and received FREE vouchers into the park. We enjoyed our service time and got great benefit out of it at the same time. We only had to pay for Reagan and we all got to enjoy the day there. We got there a little after 8 a.m. and stayed all the way through the fireworks at 9:25 p.m. The kids were real troopers!

In front of Sleeping Beauty's castle. I have been to Disneyworld many many times, but this was my first visit to Disneyland. Plenty to keep us busy for the entire day and there was much more to see!
We waited in line an hour so Reagan could have the chance to meet 3 princesses. She was SO excited. She got to meet Cinderella, Belle (above) and Ariel. She's wearing this cute little pillowcase dress I bought off of etsy with her name embroidered on it...it was perfect for our day there!
We also got to meet Aladdin and Jasmine. Reagan couldn't get over how they knew her name...and they were so gracious and funny with her.
Disney was Thurs, and Fri. we headed out to Santa Monica pier and beach. We had absolutely GORGEOUS weather the entire time we were there. Not a drop of rain and shirts/shorts weather the whole week.

Saturday was the dress rehearsal for the wedding..and Sunday, the wedding. Here's Reagan and daddy looking all spiffy! Reagan insisted on getting "wedding gloves" with her new dress for the wedding/Easter. She looked precious. She was actually mistaken as the flower girl numerous times she looked so beautiful!
And Bryce, was of course, his handsome self!

Jason and the groom, Eric. The wedding was beautiful and we were so glad that we could be a part of their special day.
This 30 week pregnant lady did not touch the dance floor, but the kids and Jason were out there the entire reception. Here's daddy slow dancing with his little girl!

Monday we headed to the LA Zoo, and Jason drove me around Hollywood. We got to see the sign, Chinese Theater, all the stars, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive...all the big spots. Tuesday was our travel day. Today were are trying to reacclimate ourselves to Eastern time, and the day started off with a bang, with dr's appts for me, school for Reagan, teaching for me, and church tonight.
The trip was lovely...but of course not without it's own drama. We had In-N-Out Burger our first night there (had to make the LA stops!). Bryce then proceeded to lose his dinner all over himself/carseat/rental car. Good times. Then, after applying sunscreen on the kids before Disney, Bryce had an allergic reaction to the sunscreen which made his nose turn on like a faucet and for him to cry cry cry, itch and rub. I initially thought I had just gotten it in his eyes, so we even reapplied around noontime and the same thing happened. Thank goodness I had Benadryl, but he still has the rash, it spread over his ENTIRE body and itched him terribly. Sweet little Bryce! We answered LOTS over questions over our vacation as to what was wrong with his skin. In fact, we were even stopped by the Safety and Security team at the LA Zoo, because another patron had expressed concern over the well-being of our child! We got the impression someone thought he was abused????? and "reported" us...so they had to follow up with us and ask us some ?'s and take our info. They were very polite and discreet, but it kind of riled us. It was obvious he was having some sort of reaction and they even checked Reagan to make sure she was "fine". Ultimately, everything was fine, but it was definetly not my favorite part of my zoo visit!
All in all, a wonderful vacation...very busy but fun. Most of the time, we travel somewhere and Jason always remarks "Let's move here", because he likes the area so much. This time, I have to say, we were both glad to return to the Midwest. We are just not LA people....but the trip was fantastic. Hope you enjoy my LENGTHY update.....
