Trip to 'Zona
April and Spring Break once again took us to Arizona to visit with my parents. This time, we stayed in an amazing Air BnB up in Scottsdale and it did not disappoint. It was off a dirt road, and really away from most of the traffic/people. The house was incredible and I spent as much of every waking moment outside!! It was a wonderful retreat, with a pool, hot tub, bocce court, mini putt range, pool and ping pong table, bags...plenty to keep everyone entertained. We could even watch tv outside! It was a complete treat and I loved it!!
One of the first days, we dragged the children out for a hike. Thankfully there were some bigger rocks to hike up, which helped keep their interest. Since both Ruthie and Bryce needed to stay active/fit over break, they chose to run the trail back to the car for exercise!!
The second day, Jason and I went early (thank you Eastern time) out for a 4.6 mile hike. I'm surely glad he did not point out where we were headed before we left, because I probably would have said no thank you! It was very rewarding to get up to the top after quite a steep incline!!
And of course, Ruthie's favorite activity on any vacation is SHOPPING! If I thought my mom would wear this visor with a fan attached, I would have purchased it in a second!!
This was the backyard from our home, and that small stubby point on the top of the mountain...yeah, I climbed that! I was pretty proud of myself after the face!!
Our third hike, Bennett wanted to go, and that was great to have him with us. He is the ultimate encourager and cheerleader, he kept saying "You got this, mom, we're almost there". Such a great kid!! And this kid was so nervous about seeing a snake on the hike (we usually don't hike much in April because of so many snakes)...we saw one probably 100 yards from our car, almost back to the main trailhead. Thankfully we saw him way in advance and he was moving very slowly.
